What does the future hold for me?

I was listening to the General Young Women's conference, there was a talk about what the future holds for our Young Women and how their future is so bright. It made me start to think about my future. This fall will be a big change for me...all the kids will be in school full time. A new chapter of my life will begin :) I am excited for it and have a sense that it will be the beginning of something great for me and my family. I already have people asking me if I am going to start working outside of the home once all my kids are in school. The time just doesn't feel right for that yet. I have been asked if I will go back to school. I have my associates degree but not my bachelors. The time also doesn't feel right for that. Lets be honest, I don't think our family could financially handle both parents being in school. I know I couldn't handle it mentally with both of us dealing with homework :) So what does my future hold for me....I am not sure. But I feel like I am doing what I am suppose to be doing...Being the MOM! My kids have been sick this week and it reaffirmed my "purpose" of being the best mom I can. Miss.S even said "mom, I am so glad you are here to help me when I don't feel good. You could be doing other things instead of rubbing my back and emptying my throw up bowl, I love you for taking care of me."  Now after a statement like that how can I not acknowledge that the home is where I am needed for this season of my life. I know it won't last forever...but I feel peace and comfort in knowing I am where I am suppose to be.

I got kidnapped :)

See this sweet little face, oh how innocent it looks. (the little baby is innocent looking too, haha)
Shawn and my sisters have been planning this little adventure for some time. Shelley was down in Salt Lake for a little bit and wanted to go get a cupcake (our favorite things:). But I had already planned a date with Shawn. He was being so kind and offered to go out later, but made a huge deal that we only had 1 hour to party.
So off we went, to get a cupcake, and that is when I noticed she missed the off ramp. I mentioned that we would have to take a different way because she missed the exit, she just started to giggle and said "what did you want for your birthday?" Which was still 20 days away. I started to think, and that is when I figured it all out. I had asked for a fun filled day with my mom and sisters. So that is what I got :)

My other sister met us in Logan. We partied it up...she shaped my eye brows, we tried on clothes, and even tried on hair extensions...yep that is some awesome fake hair,
The next morning we worked out. Shelley is a Pilate's Reformer trainer. What is that, you ask? See this machine...it is the Reformer!

It is kind of scary at first.
Shelley and Jennifer working out on the Reformer while I take a break and take some pics. It was a great workout, who knew I had so many muscles I never use.

Then we went home and got all dolled up, Shelley did my hair for me too :) And we met my sister-in-law and mother at a fun restaurant for lunch.

 I was taking the picture.

Then we went shopping, and shopping, and more shopping. We even got that wonderful cupcake, so Shelley really didn't lie to me. And to top the weekend off, we drove to Idaho Saturday night and saw my nieces perform in their dance recital. And then on Sunday my brother had his little girl blessed. It was a fun weekend. I am thinking we should do this every Mothers day weekend...who is with me?

16 years baby...

16 years ago we tied the knot...best decision I ever made. I am so glad I chased this man down and made him mine :)

We celebrated this last weekend by going to dinner. Shawn has been wanting to go to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for about 8 years now. It is a beautiful restaurant...a little pricey (so pricey that it took me all year to save up for this ONE dinner, so pricey that we could have stayed in a nice hotel for the same price). But the food was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect.

They gave us free dessert because it was our anniversary...and in true Kristy form I needed a picture of it. As I tilted the plate for the "perfect" picture...the ice cream rolled forward and fell off the plate,
5 second rule :) It still tasted good.

They even put rose pedals on the table for us.

It was a wonderful evening of good food, good conversation, and the man I love. Here is to the next million years or so :)

Time with a friend.

My High School friend, Sabrina, came down from Idaho last week. Her husband was taking his "boards" and so she got to hang out with me for a few hours. We went to the new City Creek Mall and walked around, shopped, and ate some good treats :)

We got thirsty and went looking for a drinking fountain. We thought we had found one and were walking rather fast to it and then realized it was a dogie dodo baggie thing...

So we had to take a picture of it :)

Nope...not a drinking fountain.

The mall was fun and I can't wait to take my kids there.

Thanks for coming to visit me Sabrina!

Girls night out

What is a typical "Girls Night Out?"  Well, we (my sisters, my sister-in-law, my mother, and her sister) get together and do something fun. It usually includes food of some sort.

This time we went to my Aunts house and she feed us dinner...it was amazing! How did I not get a picture?? Oops..I will do better next time. Then we went to "The Distinguished Young Women" (formally known as "Americas Junior Miss") scholarship program at my old high school.

We got a little bored for it to start...so we took pictures:

Mom and my Aunt

My sister-in-law and her sweet new baby

This sweet baby loved having her picture taken...although this picture doesn't quite show it :)

And one more picture of the baby.

The program was amazing...very talented, smart, beautiful girls. But while we waited for the judges to make their decision on the winner we found friends to take pictures with...

This is my good friend Sabrina. We went to school together...all 13 years :)

Then I saw one of my favorite people, Doyle Peterson, he is like a second father to me!

And his wife, Pam. She was my Hostess Mom when I participated in Jr. Miss (the lady that helps you prepare for your interview, makes sure your talent is up to par, attends all the rehearsals, makes sure your # is pinned in the right place, and countless other things. They are priceless.) I love these guys! They have kids the same age as my family, we celebrated countless New Years Eves with them, and they have influenced me for good, more then they probably know.

Then we did "The sister" photo...Jennifer was a Hostess mom for one of the participants so she didn't get to go to dinner with us or hang out as much as we would have liked...but her girl did take 2nd alternate, so that made it all worth it.

Then of course Shelley and I wanted to pretend that our hair styles were awesome enough to be on Pinterest...so someone needs to Pin these photos, haha.

Yep, we are awesome!

Then the judges came back and picked the winner. It was a fun night! Then I had to drive home at 1:30am...not fun.

Jazz game

Once a year we get to go to a Jazz basketball game. Shawn helps run the Junior Jazz program at work. So the Jazz does a dinner in one of the suites to tell all of the coordinators thanks.  They do treats during half time and a fun prize drawing. We also got free parking...what a deal :) I look forward to it every year, it almost makes the 3 months of  Junior Jazz season almost bearable.

This is where we entered the arena...down stairs...kinda cool.
Shawn had to get a picture by the Employees of Excellence.

 Dinner

more dinner

The actual basketball game.

They gave us this cool Jazz apron, and I won a deck of Jazz playing cards and a Jazz calculator at the prize drawing.

I am already looking forward to next years dinner :)

Our first Karate tournament

Our newest adventure...KARATE! I sure love this kid :)
