Remodel Part: 2

This is the color of our new carpet....DURANGO. A brownish color with flecks of gold, green, and burgundy in it. It hides the dirt coming in from outside and the food we tend to spill. I love it already.

Shawn loves to vacuum...don't those vacuum lines look great!

Guess what...the piano movers are coming today. So you will have to wait for pictures of that, sorry.

Kambree's room looks so nice, all clean, now really who needs furniture and toys they just create clutter. Maybe she can sleep on the floor forever...ok maybe not. But I have to be honest and say it feels a whole lot like we are moving. The whole upstairs was moved and crammed into our downstairs. And now we get to put it all back. My calves hurt from walking up and down them so many times. But it is worth it.

One last picture...thought I would show you my crafty side. I painted the ceiling fan in Miss K's room to match her boarder. It turned out really cute. The people who live here after us are going to be cursing me for this one...unless they like purple!!

Remodel Part: 1

This is (was) the wall in our living room. A few years ago there was a huge black wood burning stove there. We took it out because it was a huge accident waiting to happen with 4 little kids running around all of the time. We put in an electric stove that can be moved from room to room. But I have always hated the rocks and have wanted my piano upstairs. Soon....soon.

This is the Shawn working hard to get rid of the rock (don't let him kid you when he says it was hard work, he loved every minute of it....do you see the sledge hammer?)

Now that the rock is gone he has to putty it and texture it to match the rest of the wall. I will keep you in suspense with the finale photo of that.

Next before we can get carpet we needed to remove a row of tile from the kitchen. Even with our big table there are 3 rows of tile we never use. So we figured lets make the living room a little bit bigger. The tile was not hard to get out at all, but the backer board was a huge PAIN!

Did I mention we painted my room. It was gray and now it is a dark tan/goldish color. LOVE IT!!!

We also took down the wallpaper boarder in  Kambree's room and put up molding and painted it purple. So girlie. Yes she gets to sleep on the floor for a few days until the carpet is put in and then we will put her bed back together. She loves her bed on the floor :)

The kids even helped pull up the old carpet this morning and pull out the staples. They were actually a big help.

This would be a razor blade we found under the carpet, left from when they put the carpet down the first time...nice.

For the final picture.. those who know us know that we can't do a project without a few things breaking or falling apart. This would be a picture of a broken tile...it broke while pulling up the old carpet. Good thing we have more in the garage, but neither of us have ever installed tile. Guess we get to learn :)

Kambree is 4!!!

My little baby turned 4 today. This is the cake she wanted...High School Musical....but only with TROY on the cake! She is only 4, what am I in for?

The stores don't make High School Musical cakes anymore because they aren't the "in thing" right now. So I bought HSM valentines at the $ store and we created this.
She was in heaven when it was finished.  She is growing up way too fast. Love you Kambree.

Dance 2009

This year the girls preformed at their recital and also at a Nursing home. They both did a great job. The Nursing home was a little funny. Some old guy that lives there kept being really loud and making comments about all the dancers. I guess that is what happens when you get old, you loose your hearing and think every thing you say is funny.

And the birthday continues...

Can you tell what he got for his birthday?
He already had 3 light-sabers. But he needed the double one, and then a friend gave him another one. I asked him if he wanted to take it back and get something else. He said "are you kidding, you can NEVER have too much Star wars stuff!" Dad plays with the toys just as much as he does. And the Darth Vader mask was a huge hit. It changes your voice to sound like Darth Vaders and says a bunch of cool things. If you are ever in the mood for a light saber duel you know where to come!

And then he turned 6!

Yep he really is 6!!!!! And turning into a fine young man.
One of the ladies in our neighborhood made us rolls one day. Austin has remembered them and always asks for them. So for his birthday she came over and let him help make them and showed me how to do it.
They had a great time! Happy Birthday my 6 year old.

Service

Tonight for Family Home Evening we went to the "Road Home" homeless shelter and helped serve dinner. My brother and sister-in-law were doing it for a neighborhood project and they invited us. It is a wonderful reminder of how nice we have it. We have so many things to be thankful for and it reminds us to not take them for granted. So many people today are 1 paycheck away from ending up in a shelter. We have a healthy family, food storage and money in savings. We are truly blessed!
