So Miss.P turned 13 yesterday...oh how I had such great hopes for this day.
First off, she didn't have school (end of term) yea for her! She woke up early and opened all her presents, and loved every one of them. That is when things started to fall apart...
All she wanted for lunch was KRAFT macaroni and cheese (I never buy that brand, it is too expensive) and for her birthday dinner she wanted French bread and Beef Stroganoff, and a homemade chocolate birthday cake. So I went to the store to get the food...but left my list at home. I got most of the things. When I got ready to make lunch, I realized I had forgotten the Kraft mac & cheese. She was OK, and settled for the no name brand instead. Then I began on the cake. I got the recipe off of Pinterest...a Chocolate cake by Martha Stewart...good idea right? While making the cake I dumped part of it down my jeans...my favorite jeans, grrrr! Then when I put it in the 2 round pans it asked for they seemed rather full. I put them in the oven and set the timer. About 20 minutes later I could smell smoke. I opened the oven and smoke poured out...filling the entire house. The cakes had bubbled over and had dripped on to the element. There may or may not have been a small fire! I opened all the windows and doors, the fire alarm was going off, the phone was ringing, and now Miss.P had no birthday cake. I cleaned everything up and began making dinner, but the French bread had to warm up in the oven...yep the burnt smell returned, awesome!
In the end Miss.P got to go to the store with me and get a store bought cake. She blew the candles out and all was well. She said it was a great birthday...full of memories she won't soon forget.
p.s. does anyone know how to get the smell of smoke out of my house...it still smells like burnt cake :(

Oh dear! Sounds like footage from a sitcom or something!
I'm glad she got a good cake after all. And I'll keep searching for a smoke remedy :/
I promise your house doesn't smell like smoke anymore!
