Remodel Part: 1

This is (was) the wall in our living room. A few years ago there was a huge black wood burning stove there. We took it out because it was a huge accident waiting to happen with 4 little kids running around all of the time. We put in an electric stove that can be moved from room to room. But I have always hated the rocks and have wanted my piano upstairs. Soon....soon.

This is the Shawn working hard to get rid of the rock (don't let him kid you when he says it was hard work, he loved every minute of it....do you see the sledge hammer?)

Now that the rock is gone he has to putty it and texture it to match the rest of the wall. I will keep you in suspense with the finale photo of that.

Next before we can get carpet we needed to remove a row of tile from the kitchen. Even with our big table there are 3 rows of tile we never use. So we figured lets make the living room a little bit bigger. The tile was not hard to get out at all, but the backer board was a huge PAIN!

Did I mention we painted my room. It was gray and now it is a dark tan/goldish color. LOVE IT!!!

We also took down the wallpaper boarder in  Kambree's room and put up molding and painted it purple. So girlie. Yes she gets to sleep on the floor for a few days until the carpet is put in and then we will put her bed back together. She loves her bed on the floor :)

The kids even helped pull up the old carpet this morning and pull out the staples. They were actually a big help.

This would be a razor blade we found under the carpet, left from when they put the carpet down the first time...nice.

For the final picture.. those who know us know that we can't do a project without a few things breaking or falling apart. This would be a picture of a broken tile...it broke while pulling up the old carpet. Good thing we have more in the garage, but neither of us have ever installed tile. Guess we get to learn :)

I love the color in your room!! That looks like the same color in my whole main floor. I think it was called toupe?? But here is an idea for the wall you took the rocks off of......Don't paint the whole thing. If you are just going to put a piano there, chances are you won't be moving it to another wall....right???? Just an idea!!! Can't wait to see the rest!!! :)
