To have Guns or not to have Guns.

If you have a little boy I am sure you have posed this question. Is it OK to let them play with toy guns, swords, and other toy weapons? Let me just say that even if I had tried to keep them away from our house it wouldn't have done any good. Austin can and does turn everything he touches into some kind of weapon. His latest was turning a ruler into a "flame thrower", he launched Legos from it and knocked things down.

So on Monday night Austin was in charge of the lesson for Family Home Evening. We try to let the kids do their own thing, but require that we have some kind of Gospel meaning in it. So when it came time for the lesson Austin made everyone go to the kitchen table with paper and pencils. We were suppose to draw pictures of guns. Then he says "We are drawing these pictures so we can appreciate that we have guns, because in Nephi's time they only had bows and arrows." At least he got a gospel message in there.

You forgot to mention that Mr. A now has those pictures taped to his bedroom door. Boys will be boys. I love you.

That is hilarious! It sounds fun too, I guess I'm sick of only drawing sparkly rainbows, unicorns, and things of that nature! your little girl is so adorable in that dress. I can tell she is a girly girl. My girls would love her!

That's great. My oldest boy, Bradley, is obsessed with guns right now. Over the past year we have become the proud new owners of 8 guns. Why do we need 8 guns!?! He is now trying to talk me into a 9th. He too tries to connect it into some gospel necessity. "We need to have some way to get meat for our food storage and protect what we have. Guns are also a great investment especially with today's economy".
